Hysteroscopy

It is a special minimally invasive surgery that uses a special light transmitting telescope to view the inside of the lining of the uterus.

Abnormalities of the uterine lining include:

  • Fibroids
  • Polyps
  • Early precancerous change
  • Adhesions/scared tissue

It can be the cause of abnormal uterine bleeding (longer, heavier menstrual bleeding with clots)

At the Health Centre for Women, Hysteroscopy is done as an in-office procedure and generally required no sedation.  Patients can watch the procedure on the monitor.

We offer advanced hysteroscopic surgery to treat these conditions as an out-patient surgery as an alternative to hysterectomy.
